The Season......
What happens to the sap during the winter?
And when you see the leaves falling we know that it is the autumn, the season preceding winter in this part of the world, the longest and coldest season is winter, and once autumn settles in we know that winter is just round the corner.
But what does this season mean to us as believers?
During autumn, the leaves fall, the trees are dry and bare, and we see this happen year in year out but have we related it to our Christian experience. When is the fall? Why do you need to go through with it? The fall is the season when the plants prepare for winter. They trapped in much needed moisture in the sap to prepare for the winter where life becomes frozen for the plants because of the cold.
And brethren, this fall is passed we are now in winter, the time when everything is dark cold and freezing. Static; the nights are colder and it is like the day will not break. Does that describe your experience now? Does that paint a picture of what you are going through? It may be the winter; but do you notice that the trees do not necessarily die because during the winter the sap stays alive. Cold moistened in the tree because autumn precedes winter.
What is your own sap, child of God? In the period of winter, your sap is the blood. The bible says the life of a thing is in the blood; what kind of blood runs through your veins? Is it the blood of Christ through adoption? (Ephesians 1:5, Romans 9:4) If yes. Through the months of winter you will still have life because your life which is hid in Christ in God is an everlasting one (John 6:40). The sap will not dry, the blood remains an everlasting covenant (Hebrews 13:20) that takes you through the months of winter, the nights may be long (but joy comes in the morning) and after the long months of winter your time of spring comes, where the earth will once again yield her increase and every green plant will be watered (Jeremiah 13: 12) and every animal will find graze because the Lord will have mercy.
Broadly speaking brethren, these are the seasons of our Christian experience. We are in the fall. The Bible says when we see this happening we should know that our redemption is near because we are about entering the winter of the age; a time of coldness and darkness, when men’s hearts become frozen with sin and blood guiltiness; a time when he that restrain will stop restraining, and you child of God you don’t have to expire during this period of winter, because the sap inside you is the son of God, the blood of Christ, but examine yourself if thou be in the faith.
The time of spring is close by when the earth will once again yield her increase, when the goat will lie down with the lion, when we will beat down our bows into ploughshares and we will reign with Christ a thousand years. Then comes the period of this heat, fire unquenchable for the devil and all the people that have rejected Christ, the fountain of living water.
It is winter, autumn is passed and we are so much closer to our redemption. Is Christ born in you? Is He the sap in your tree? Does His blood flow through you? Awake, you sleeper and let the Sun of righteousness shine on you.
